I want to tell stories with sound. To explore how music and sound interact with the performance space and audience experience.

Sean is a composer, sound designer and violinist based in New York City.

 

Collaborating with Third Rail Projects since 2011, he has created original soundtracks and multi-channel immersive designs for Then She Fell (Kingsland Ward, Bessie Award), Midsummer: A Banquet (Drama Desk Nomination), Ghost Light (LCT3), The Grand ParadiseIkaros (La Jolla Playhouse), Sweet and Lucky (Denver Center for the Performing Arts), Confection (Folger Shakespeare Library), Oasis (Brookfield Place), Roadside Attraction (World Financial Center), Behind the CityMidnight Madness, House 17 (Governor’s Island), and Steampunk Haunted House (Abrons Arts Center). In addition, he provided the soundtrack for the short film Between Yourself and Me, a collaboration between Third Rail Projects and Dance Films Association.

 

Other immersive projects include The Wild Party (DCPA Off-Center), as well as 4Chambers (A@R) and The Brain Piece (New York Live Arts) with Jody Oberfelder.

 

He created the sound and music for the Off-Broadway revival of Around the World in 80 Days (Davenport Theatre), directed by Rachel Klein. With director Mark Shanahan, he continued to work on three other productions of the show: at the Hangar Theater, and  performing live foley and music at Theater Squared (Fayetteville, AR) and Florida Repertory Theater (Ft. Myers, FL). Also with Shanahan, he provided sound and original music for eleven productions of Hound of the Baskervilles (including Weston Playhouse, Penguin Rep, and Virginia Stage).

 

Other projects include music and sound for 90 one-act plays with The Actors Studio Drama School Rep. Season 2015-22, The Anthem (Lynn Redgrave Theatre), The Collector and The Fall to Earth (59 E 59), Shatter and Inner Voices (Urban Stages), Foreign Bodies, Faith, Village Orpheus, and Outside Paducah (Poetic Theater – Wild Project). Regional productions include The Net Will Appear, Twelfth Night, and The Pavilion (Milesquare Theater), Mrs. Mannerly (MRT), Red, and God of Carnage (Hangar Theatre). 

 

Exploring innovative hardware and software systems for live sound and video processing, Sean has performed with live electronics for interactive projects that include Hit the Body Alarm (The Performing Garage) with actress, writer, director Winsome Browne; Chasing the Train with tap dancer Andrew Nemr (Webster Hall, Issue Project Room); The Lost Victrola Sessions with violinist Rebecca Cherry (Hudson Opera, Player’s Club); and Chopin’s Minute Waltz with pianist and composer Dave Soldier (Le Poisson Rouge).

 

As an acoustic and electric violinist, Sean has performed in many clubs in downtown New York and Brooklyn, including Bowery Ballroom, Joe’s Pub, The Bellhouse, Brooklyn Bowl, CBGB’s, Rockwood Music Hall, 92nd St Y, The Bitter End, The Living Room, South Paw, and Galapagos Art Space.
As a theatrical musician, he has performed at Claire Tow Theater (Lincoln Center), The Kirk Theater (Theater Row), Ars Nova, Dixon Place, Urban Stages, Brookfield Plaza, and Weston Playhouse (Weston, VT).
